Every once in awhile, something evokes a *true* OMG moment. A product or service that makes you smile, from ear to ear. Here are things that have made me jump for joy recently:
- Undo Send on Gmail. Oops! How many of you have sent something you regretted, moments after hitting the send button? When you enable this feature on Gmail, there's an Undo button that becomes visible every time you hit the Send button. (Sorry, Outlook users. I'm not aware of this feature on Outlook. This is one more reason to move to Gmail.) Hit the Undo button within 10 seconds of sending an email on your Gmail account and voila, it's as if you never sent it. I tried it. It works. (BTW--remember the Super Bowl commercial that showed the great lengths that someone wished they could go through to recall an email? The dream has been realized.) Do the Work! by Steven Pressfield. Recommended by my friend, Patricia Ryan Madson, I love this book for its pithy and practical advice on getting started and completing any big project. It's small, readable, with memorable sentences that you'll want to re-read and underline, until you've got it in your bones. I'm half-way through the book (just started reading this morning.) One of my favorite quotes: "I ask myself, again, of this project: "What is this damn project about?""
A side note: This is one of the first books I've seen published by The Domino Project, Seth Godin's brainchild for changing how great ideas are spread.
- A Camera Man/Woman to Capture Your Every Move On Video. If you love shooting video with your phone or Flip, you'll love this. This rotating tripod follows your every move. Particularly good for those trying to be on camera and behind the camera at the same time. The product is still in beta and they are inviting consumers to help shape the final product. Thanks to my friend, Dave, for bringing this cool gadget to my attention. (Yes, if you are wondering if there is a theme going on, there is. Make friends with people who are doing interesting things.)

Freebirds World Burrito. Can the lowly burrito be raised to high culinary art? You betcha! Walking into this burrito place near the campus of University of Southern California and finding 4 choices of tortillas, free add ins like roasted garlic and roasted limes and something called "death sauce", all for under $5, I was able to customize my order into a remarkable breakfast. Add in creativity (see picture of the bag that my burrito came in) and service with a smile and you've got one heckuva dining experience. (Okay, I'm not going to launch into an infomercial at this point, but if I had that rotating tripod, I just might be able to shoot a quick video....) While Freebirds is not in Colorado where I live, they are in Texas. First stop when I drop off my son at college this fall in Dallas will be Freebirds.
And finally, while killing time after taking a number at the Department of Motor Vehicles (number 452, now serving 375), my son and I went to the newly expanded Whole Foods in Boulder. No where else do I know of can you get cherry/chocolate trifle, Indian chicken masala, and veggie wraps by the pound, salad bar style. Jumping for joy, indeed.
